Son of Chamber Symphony (2007)

According to the suggestion contained in the title, the work is scored in a manner similar to the Chamber Symphony and permitted the composer to yet again develop the possibilities associated with chamber music. The instruments are treated here in large measure independently and virtuosically. The Symphony is comprised of three movements of Classical structure and character – the middle movement is of lyrical character, the outer movements are fast and lively. The choreography to this composition was created by Mark Morris. Under the altered title Joyride, it had its ballet première in 2008 in San Francisco.
