« back

During the fifth edition of the Festival, the audience could listen to works by American composers performed by the world’s leading musicians and prominent Polish artists. A novelty was enlivening the former “Emalia” factory by introducing contemporary music to the place. Extraordinary concerts were organised in Kraków’s K. Szymanowski Philharmonic. The works presented included pieces by George Gershwin, Miles Davis, Charles Ives, Steve Reich, Leonard Bernstein, Elliott Carter, John Adams, Philip Glass and John Cage.
Performers included foreign artists such as: Marc Minkowski, Paul Hillier, London Sinfonietta, Schönberg Ensemble, Asko Ensemble and Theatre of Voices, as well as prominent Polish musicians - Leszek Możdżer, Tomasz Stańko, Marek Moś, Maciej Grzybowski and musical groups: Royal String Quartet, Kwartet Śląski (Silesian Quartet), AUKSO and Sinfonia Varsovia. The crowning point of the Festival was its finale BERNSTEIN. BROADWAY IN NOWA HUTA West Side Story - On the Town - Wonderful Town – Candide, directed by Konrad Imiela and traditionally presented in one of the halls of ArcelorMittal Poland.
